What is Jim's Big Adventure?

Jim’s Big Adventure is an attempt to fly round the world commencing and finishing in Scotland. The ambition was born many years ago. As a schoolboy I was interested in aircraft but didn’t do anything about my ambitions until I was in my thirties. I started by taking a gliding course and briefly did some cross-country gliding. However, I was drawn to powered-aircraft flying by the desire to go further afield and take friends along. I first gained my Private Pilot’s Licence in 1977 and then went on to gain a Multi-Engine Rating and also an Instrument Rating in 1984. The cost of flying multi-engine aircraft was prohibitive to a normal working person and that phase of my flying lasted only a year or two.
